The official sponsors for the 2009 Snooker China Open were announced this past weekend. The Bank of Beijing and Hyundai will be the new official sponsors for the World Snooker ranking event. The tournament will be called the Bank of Beijing 2009 World Snooker China Open.

This year’s World Snooker China Open has drawn a slew of sponsors and is estimated to draw huge crowds to events. On Monday the event kicked off at the Beijing Student University Stadium. The competition will feature forty of the best snooker players in the world. Included in the lineup are Ding Junhui, Stephen Maguire and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

The director of China Multi-ball Administrative Center commented on the event stating: “Support from sponsors like Bank of Beijing and Hyundai will boost the sport’s development in China. The China Open has had years of experience in marketing and it offers the best platform to encourage our teenage snooker players. As a non-Olympic sport, snooker still boasts huge potential for development.”
