World Snooker Championship to Stay in SheffieldIt was recently announced that an agreement was made between World Snooker, Sheffield City Council and the Yorkshire Tourist Board to continue the World Snooker Championship in the city of Sheffield. Many were unsure where the event would move to and many did not want to see it move as the Championship has a long history in Sheffield. (28/04)

After defeating Joe Swail on Monday, Marco Fu advances to the third round of the World Snooker Championships to face Shaun Murphy. Fu is very confident that he will be the first winner of the championships from outside of Britain. (23/04)
Ding Beats Liang in First Round of World Championship of Snooker
Liang Wenbo could not get past Ding Junhui in the first round of the World Championship of Snooker in Sheffield at the Crucible. Junhui was able to best Wenbo in the match up 10-8 to take the first round win. (21/04)
New Format to Debut at Snooker World Championships Later This Month
Hoping to follow in the success of Twenty20 for cricket, snooker officials have changed the format of the game for the upcoming snooker World Championships. The new format is called “Super6s” and will feature the same number of colors per frame but will only have six reds. This move was to replicate the move by cricket officials which saw success for the sport. (14/04)
Betfred to Sponsor World Snooker Championships
Betfred, the United Kingdom land and online gambling group, recently announced they will become the latest sponsor for the World Snooker Championship. The 888 gambling group used to be the sponsor for the event until their deal ran out after last year’s tournament. (07/04)
