2009 European Snooker Championships Beginning in Early JuneThe 2009 European Snooker Championships will begin on June 4th and will continue until the 13th. The Championships will take place in Duffel, Belgium with a record number of players competing. One hundred and forty one players from thirty one countries will be competing in this year’s event. Mohammad Yousuf Earns Wild Card Entry into Event
Snooker player Mohammad Yousuf has something to be happy about as he has been given the wild card entry into the NBP Ranking Snooker Championship for 2009. The Championship will take place at the Karachi Club and the Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association approved the wild card entry for Yousuf. (26/05)
English Amateur Finals to be sponsored by Jurys Inn in Sheffield
The English Amateur Snooker Finals will take place May 23rd and 24th and will be sponsored by the new Jurys Inn Hotel in Sheffield. The English Amateur Finals is the oldest snooker matches still active and has produced several famous champions of the sport. (19/05)
John Higgins Takes Third World Title After beating Shaun Murphy
After a somewhat easy match at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, John Higgins bested Shaun Murphy 18-9 to claim his third World Snooker Championship title. With the win, Higgins became only the sixth player to win three or more titles. (12/05)
Newspaper Offering Snooker Players a Chance to Compete Against Jimmy White

Valiant Sports Saves Rileys Snooker Clubs
Several Rileys snooker halls in different areas of the UK were in the process of shutting down when Valiant Sports stepped in and saved the day. The Valiant Sports group has saved 129 out of 159 halls all over the area which would have closed due to the failing of Rileys leisure firm. (06/05)
Mark Shelby Betting Favorite to Win World Snooker Championships
The World Snooker Championships will take place on May 4th at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England and the top betting websites have placed Mark Shelby as the favorite to win the event. Ronnie O’Sullivan was the top pick to win but Shelby beat O’Sullivan at the BetFred World Snooker Championships and the upset rocked the betting circles. (04/05)
Neil Robertson Moves on to Semi Finals of World Snooker Championships
Number two in the sport of snooker, Stephen Maguire, has lost his chance to win the World Snooker Championships. Maguire was beaten by Neil Robertson of Melbourne in Sheffield. Now Robertson will move on to the Semi Finals of the Championships. (01/05)
