Alex Borg of the Juventutis Domus club won his first snooker ranking tournament of the season recently when he participated in a Malta Billiards & Snooker Association event. The tournament took place this past Friday at the 147 Snooker Hall. Borg was able to beat Simon Zammit 6-4 in the final.

Zammit was in the lead at 3-0 with breaks of 43 and 37 but Borg won the next two frames which made the score 2-3 going into the mid-session interval. Borg had breaks of 50 and 53. Zammit came back with 4-2 but Borg then came back and won the match 6-4 with breaks of 47 and 53.

Both finalists earned trophies for their efforts which were passed out by Mr. Joe Caruana Curran the President of the Malta Billiards & Snooker Association. Borg is currently leading the MBSA provisional ranking list with 3050 points. Duncan Bezzina is next in line with 2100 points and Simon Zammit is next with 2000 points.

Thursday marks the second ranking tournament and it will end on Friday November 6th. The Final will be played at the Pinto Band Club in Qormi and will begin at 6:30pm.
