BAE Lightning Leads Premier Division of A2Z-sponsored Preston and District Snooker League
Elite A hosted the Premier Division of the A2Z sponsored Preston and District Snooker League event but were beaten by the BAE Lightning 5-2. The BAE might not have the lead for long as Riley Red is right behind them. The Reds beat St Wilfrid’s with the same 5-2 score.The players showing the most prominence for the Reds were Leigh Robinson and Steve Whalley. Robinson has a break of 52 which game him a 66-33 victory over Steve Nightingale. Whalley had a 43 break to produce a victory of 93-36 over Andy Sanderson.
Carl Bayliss was the man of the tournament when he had a 69 break which produced a 125-7 win over Neil Whalley. Last season, New Longton B and St Bede’s were promoted from the third division and showed growth in their game.
John Hilton had a win of 91-36 with a 54 break then Steve Rowlings has a 63 break for a 104-25 win against Adam Darwin. Division four champions of last year, Greenlands Labour Club won over Fulwood Blue 5-2 leaving them three points clear at the top of Division Three.
Also playing very well was the Ribbleton Club as Jason Crossley won 75-22 over Shaun Smith with a break of 44. Dave Preston and Mick Taylor also had personal scores of 82 and 85. Sharing the lead with St Joseph’s was Walton-le-Dale Cons after they beat Leyland Legion 4-3.
New teams to the League, Lostock Cons B gained a one point lead at the top of Division five when Dave Hudson beat Keith Holding 97-28.
