Ding Beats Liang in First Round of World Championship of Snooker
Liang Wenbo could not get past Ding Junhui in the first round of the World Championship of Snooker in Sheffield at the Crucible. Junhui was able to best Wenbo in the match up 10-8 to take the first round win. Ding was up in the series 5-4 and then finished up in top form. Though Liang had a chance to catch up when Ding went for over an hour without sinking one ball. Ding took the first two frames after a loose safety play by Liang. Ding had breaks of 58 and 72 during the first two frames.
The match then progressed to a 7-4 score and Liang was almost left in the dust by Ding. But Liang was persistent and he won three frames in a row to tie the match. After the match up was tied, Ding began hitting pots again, but Liang was able to win a frame and gained the lead for the first time.
Ding then produced a break of 111 and leveled the match 8-8. Ding took his new found confidence and took the next frame with a 91 break to take the win. Ding will now move on to face Stephen Hendry in a second round tie.
