The Gambling Commission will soon be investigating matches that were held in the Malta Cup after irregular betting patterns were discovered at the invitational tournament.

The round robin produced some matches that had nothing at stake and bookmakers were soon alarmed when they noticed the unusual flows of money during in-play markets.

The winner of the event was Rotheram's Shaun Murphy with a 9 to 0 victory over Dublin's Ken Doherty at Sunday's final that was held in Portomaso.
