John Higgins loses to Stephen Maguire in the German Masters
John Higgins was shocked after his match with Stephen Maguire ended at the German Masters. Higgins is a top snooker player and is used to winning his matches but this time he would never earn get on the board. Higgins suffered his first shutout in sixteen years when he faced Maguire in the German Masters. Higgins lost to Maguire with a score of 5-0 and this was the first time the pro had scored a zero since 1996. Maguire took the opener and then was up 3-0, earning breaks of 74 and 89. Higgins was unable to get on the board and then Maguire was then up 4-0.
Maguire then continued his streak and score once more to win the match. Maguire commented on his performance by stating: “To beat John any time is great for my confidence. We’re good friends and once the match is over we shake hands and go back to that. He’s crushed me a few times so it’s nice to get one back. We’ll go for dinner together tonight and I’ll have bragging rights.”
Maguire will now face Judd Trump in the quarter finals of the German Masters. Trump defeated Mark Allen 5-2 to make it to the quarter finals. Graeme Dott will also head to the quarter finals since he defeated James Wattana. Dott will now face Mark Selby in the quarter final.
