John Higgins Takes Third World Title After beating Shaun Murphy
After a somewhat easy match at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, John Higgins bested Shaun Murphy 18-9 to claim his third World Snooker Championship title. With the win, Higgins became only the sixth player to win three or more titles.

Higgins won his first title in 1998 and then again in 2007. At the top of the most titles list is Stephen Hendry with seven followed by Steve Davis and Ray Reardon with six wins. Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Spencer and of course Higgins sit at three wins apiece.

In the first day of play Higgins held a strong lead of 11-5 and the next day he took a 16-8 lead before claiming the last two frames. The final may not have been the spectacle everyone wanted to see but there were a few highlights and shocking turns.

There were eighty three century breaks during the tournament and Higgins had eleven in the tournament. And the shocks of the tournament were when Graeme Dott and Ronnie O’Sullivan were both eliminated during the second round.
