John Higgins Wins Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Glasgow
Ryan Day played his hardest but even the strongest comeback could not hold off John Higgins who took home the win at the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Glasgow this past weekend. The event took place starting on the 11th of October and came to conclusion on the 19th. Higgins won his first ranking event in a long eighteen months.

Higgins began the matchup with Day in the lead with 5-2 and then 7-2 before Day began to show his skills. Day began his comeback and ended up winning five of the next six frames bringing the score to 8-7. Higgins managed to hold on and took the next frame winning the Grand Prix Final 9-7 against Day.

This win was Higgins 19th ranking win in his career and the first ranking win since he won the World Championship in May of 2007. When play began Higgins had four breaks of more than 50 with 85 on the second break. After he was up and Day began his climb back up, Day had breaks of 64 and 82.

Higgins said: “I was up 7-2 but I was feeding off Ryan because he didn’t play nearly as well as he has all week-he has definitely been the player of the tournament. I knew once he got his cue arm going he would come back at me really strong. I was just relieved to get over the line and really proud I won.”
