John Higgins Wins Welsh Open Snooker Title
Allister Carter just barely missed out on the chance to be the winner of the Welsh Open Snooker tournament when he was beat by World champion John Higgins 9-4 this past Sunday. Carter was the defending champion but Higgins was able to take the title trophy in the tournament.

Higgins gained a large lead, 5-0, early on and just needed three frames and he brought the score to 6-2 before the break. Carter came back and the score was 7-4 but Higgins got two more frames to win the match.

Higgins commented: ĎIíve always felt that ranking tournaments are the ones to go for so Iím just delighted to add another one. Iím feeling really confident at the moment and just taking it as it comes.Ē

During the final Higgins scored two centuries and eight more breaks of fifty. He also hit the highest break of the day with a 138 on Saturday when he played Ronnie OíSullivan in the semi-finals.
