Jordan Brown Advancing in Snooker Challenge
Twenty one year old snooker star, Jordan Brown, arrived in Austria this past weekend to compete for the world amateur championship. Brown is the Northern Ireland senior champion and holds the title of the all-Ireland under 21.Brown entered the Round Robin stage of the competition with confidence. Brown beat Dermot McGlinchey 5-2 in the semi-finals and then moved on to defeat Kieran McMahon 6-4 in the decider.
McMahon won the opener after a 69 break but Jordan took the next five frames. McMahon would make an impressive comeback attempt winning the next three frames, one with a 101 break. But Brown would take the final frame.
With that victory, Brown moved to the head of the NI ranking list. Brown is expected to do very well in the championship event. Brown’s former clubmate and practice partner, Mark Allen, won the championship four years ago when it took place in Holland.
Around 90 players from 50 different countries will be participating in the competition. The event will begin with a series of groups playing in a Round Robin style where up to three players from each group will advance to the next stage of competition.
