Lismore Workers Club Hosting Annual Snooker Open This Weekend
This weekend the Lismore Workers Club will be holding their annual snooker open with around fifty people competing for the first place prize. Four tables will see players competing in the best of five frames knockout competition. The finals are scheduled to run on Monday.

Cain Achurch, the captain of the Lismore Workers Snooker club will be competing in the
tournament for the first time this year. He just began playing the game four years ago. Achurch commented: “I got involved because a neighbor got me started on snooker. I originally started playing pool but I found snooker was a better sport. Snooker is more competitive and it’s better for your brain as you are thinking three shots ahead.”

Mark Jackson won the tournament last year and he will be returning to defend his title. Competition will be very strong with Tom Lucas the top regional player and Phil Haycock the former Queensland champion both competing in this weekend’s tournament. It will be interesting to see which pro, if any, is able to take down the first place prize.
