Mannan Chandra is a former national snooker champion who has earned top billing in the Madras Gymkhana Club All India Snooker Championship. The event took place this past Saturday and many other top cueists were in attendance.

Others who attended the event were: Yasin Merchant an Asian Games gold medalist, Rupesh Shah the World Billiards Champion, Aditya Mehta the only Indian pro snooker player in the event as well as Sourav Kothari, Brijesh Damani and Kamal Chawla.

The event was held in conjunction with Club’s 125th year celebrations which offered prize money of Rs.3.22 lakhs and the winner earned Rs.1.4 lakhs. The runner up of the tournament earned Rs.80, 000 for their efforts. Rs.20, 000 was offers up for the highest break of over 100 during the competition which will last for seven days.

The twenty four players in the competition have been divided up into four groups and the top two groups will qualify for the quarter finals. The matches will be played under best of five frames and the quarterfinal matches will be seven frames, the semis will be best of nine and the finals will be best of eleven frames.
