The World Snooker Championships will take place on May 4th at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England and the top betting websites have placed Mark Shelby as the favorite to win the event. Ronnie O’Sullivan was the top pick to win but Shelby beat O’Sullivan at the BetFred World Snooker Championships and the upset rocked the betting circles.

Shelby was the second favorite to win the event before O’Sullivan was knocked out of the competition. Along with Shelby, Stephen Maguire is a top favorite as well. Ladbrokes has Shelby with 7/2 odds while Coral has him at 39/10. Several other sites have Shelby at 4/1 odds while Maguire has odds of 3/1 at StanJames and ToteSport has him at 10/3.

Other players odds for the snooker competition are Shaun Murphy at 6/1 odds at William Hill and John Higgins sits at 7/2 odds at Ladbrokes, SkyBet and Sporting Bet. The odds had to be changed dramatically when O’Sullivan was knocked out of the competition. Betting websites had to quickly change their odds and decide who would be sitting at the top of the list. It will be interesting to see if there will be another upset or if the ones on top will have the most success.
