Neil Robertson Moves on to Semi Finals of World Snooker Championships
Number two in the sport of snooker, Stephen Maguire, has lost his chance to win the World Snooker Championships. Maguire was beaten by Neil Robertson of Melbourne in Sheffield. Now Robertson will move on to the Semi Finals of the Championships.Robertson held a lead of 5-3 and then the next day the two finished their match up and Robertson finished and took the win 13-8. Robertson was very excited to win and move on to the semi finals. If he makes the finals he will be the first Australian to make the finals since 1975.
Robertson commented: "My long game was absolutely fantastic and I think it must have killed him (Maguire). I dropped in three long reds in consecutive frames and cleared up every time. I think that was a big blow to him. This is a great moment for me."
Shaun Murphy, who recently beat Stephen Hendry, will face Robertson in the semi finals and he is sure to give Robertson a run for his money. Murphy won the championship in 2005 as a qualifier and would love to win again.
On the other side of the semi finals, Mark Allen and John Higgins and the winner of that match will play the winner of the Robertson and Murphy match.
