Snooker fans will be glad to hear that the World Snooker Championship is set to begin soon in Hyderabad and around two hundred cueists are set to be competing for top honors at the event. The Championship will begin on November 14th and continue until the 29th. Pankaj Advani and Geet Sethi will be among the competitors at the Championship tournaments.

The event has been nicknamed the Olympics of Snooker because it draws out the best of the best in the game and the competition is fierce. Other top Indian players set to attend are: Aditya Mehta, Devendra Joshi, Manan Chandra, Yasin Merchant, Rupesh Shah and Saurav Kothari.

In the women’s division both Anuja Chandra and Vidya Pillai will be competing. Pillai is a two time quarterfinalist so maybe this time she will be able to advance even further and possibly take the win. The President of the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India, Capt PVK Mohan commented that they had begun planning for the event about a year and a half ago. At the bidding India was able to beat England, Australia and China to bring the event to Hyderabad.
