Players getting ready to compete in 37th National Snooker Championship
The 37th National Snooker Championship will begin today and those who make it to the finals will move on to compete in the 28th Asian Snooker Championship this April. The Asian Snooker Championship will take place in Qatar and the top cueists from Pakistan will be competing in the event.The best of the best in the snooker industry will represent Pakistan in the event and this includes two junior players. The junior players competed in the twenty one and under qualifying event and did so well they were able to compete in this major event.
The players from Pakistan will be divided into five groups and the top two from each group will move on to the final sixteen players. Imran Shehzad of Pakistan is excited to compete in the event and feels as though he will do well in the competition.
The number one ranked player in Pakistan said that he feels he will be able to knockout players in his group which includes Vishangir, Yasir Shehzad and Bilal Agha. Shehzad spoke with the Express Tribune on the matter by commenting:
“I have competitive cueists in my group but I can outplay them. The second round will be difficult. Senior players, including Mohammad Sajjad, Khurram Agha, and Asif Toba, will want to kickoff the year with the national title.
It will be interesting to see if Shehzad’s confidence will pull him through the competition or if his competitors will be on top of their game and give him a run for his money!
