Police Snooker Club Member Gets Highest Break of the Season
Brian Quinlan is a member of the Police Sports Club and recently Brian performed the highest break of the season during a match at the Shelley Sports and Social Club. Brian scored a 95 break during his Section IIB match against Patrick Schofield.Brian was playing off a handicap of ten against Patrick when he scored the 95 run. League officials docked Brian 30 points in the beginning which made him at minus 20. An investigation had taken place and it was found out that Brian had played in the Manchester area at a high level.
Peter Atkinson the assistant secretary who revises handicaps commented that Brian had just joined the league at the end of the previous season and was given the ten point handicap, but he never played a game. Atkinson commented that Brian started the new season with the same handicap but when he had the big 95 break it came to the officials attention. Atkinson stated: “Plus ‘10 men’ don’t make 95 breaks!”
By the end of the match up Brian won 105-23. It would be the Police Sports Club’s only win as the Shelley Sports Club won the match 3-1.
