Preston and District Snooker League Mourn Passing of Colin Bamber
Members of the Preston and District Snooker League committee are mourning the sudden passing of snooker player Colin Bamber. Colin died suddenly last week at the Fulwood Club during his Over-50s match, one he was all too familiar with as he won it two years ago. Bamber was a strong member of the league who played well and supported the leagues efforts. Bamber had won the league’s individual title in years past and received the Sam Spencer Memorial Trophy as well.
Bamber began his snooker career as a member of the New Longton Bowling Club over thirty years ago and then moved to the new league as their reputation grew. Chairman of the Preston and District Snooker League, John Newton, commented:
"Colin was a true gentleman respected by all who both knew and competed against him on the green baize.”Newton went on to say that the leagues thoughts go to Colin’s family, his wife and son.
