Scotland Snooker Player Claims Investigation Will Find Him Innocent
A formal investigation has been launched on the UK Championship defeat of Scotland snooker player Jamie Burnett. Burnett lost the Championship match and bookmakers saw heavy betting on him losing. This has prompted an investigation into the matter.

Burnett had not reached the World Championship round since 1996 and everyone was excited to see him reach the Championship. However Burnett lost the match against Stephen Maguire 9-3. The 9-3 outcome was the score line that bookmakers had set for the match and they saw heavy betting. This resulted in bookmakers contacting the World Snooker association.

Burnett says that he has nothing to hide and that the investigation will prove that he has done nothing wrong. Burnett was quoted as saying: “As far as I’m concerned, it was a snooker match which I lost- and that was it. As far as I’m concerned, that was the end of it. But (World Snooker) have got this investigation going.”

Officials from World Snooker have confirmed that an investigation into the match is taking place and no date of conclusion has been indicated.
