Snooker Legend Dennis Taylor to speak at Charity event
Dennis Taylor, a legend in the game of snooker, will be speaking at a black tie dinner this week at Scunthorpe’s Forest Pines hotel. The engagement is part of the region’s Tour of Britain Celebrations and will raise money for Sport Relief as well as Scunthorpe’s Lindsey Lodge Hospice.Taylor won the World Snooker Title in 1985 after besting Steve Davis and is well known in the sport as one of the top players. Taylor will speak at the dinner which will take place at the Forest Pines Hotel and Spa resort before the Tour of Britain begins.
The evening is set to take place just two days before the Tour of Britain begins in Scunthorpe’s Central Park. During the evening a charity auction will take place which will feature such items as a gold cap signed by Ian Poulter and a rugby ball autographed by Martin Bayfield.
Before the nightly events, visitors of the hotel will be able to compete in a gold golf tournament while tips are given out by PGA professionals. Mick Grand the Councillor who brought the Tour of Britain to Scunthorpe commented: “This is a great opportunity for people to take part in a sporting experience they have probably never been able to go to locally before.”
