Snooker Marathon For Charity
24 hours is what it took for a group of talented snooker players to raise more than £1,300 for a children's charity. The Peterborough Q Club ‘C’ team sported special shirts to promote their fund-raiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital, in London.
The host was the Q Club, in Cowgate, city centre and it started Saturday at midday as the players paired off through out the night to play this snooker marathon.
We managed to keep playing through the night, and the club kindly let us play for free and gave us a few meals and drinks to keep us going,” said Geoff Ward Jr. one of the players.
Ciro Tomeo who sponsor is Barclays Bank said he would get them to match his sponsorship pound-for-pound.
Great Ormond Street Hospital has more than 150,000 patient admissions or visits each year from children who are suffering from rarest, complex and often life-threatening conditions.
The hospital has relied on the generosity of the public to keep it going for more than 150 years.
