Welsh Open Champion of Snooker is Ali Carter
This past Sunday Ali Carter defeated Joe Swail 9-5 during the finals of the Welsh Open. With the win, Carter became the new Welsh Open Champion. This is the first ranking title for Carter who has been a snooker player for some time now.Carter was down 5-2 but then came back and won seven frames in a row to claim the win. Carter had 640 points to Swail’s 71. Carter had breaks of 116, 109, 61, 91 and 67. Carter is ranked as the number seven in the world in the game of snooker.
Carter commented on the match and his excitement over the win. He stated: “it’s so pleasing to be a champion. The final was a tight match. Joe made it very difficult for me in the first session and at the interval I had to regroup and get my head right. I was pleased to get back in the game and delighted to win seven frames in a row.”
Carter will next compete at the 888 World Championship that takes place in April. Carter owns Chelmsford Snooker center and looks forward to competing in the World Championship event.
