World Snooker Championship Won by Alfred Burden
The first player from England to win the men’s World Snooker Championship was crowned recently. Alfred Burden took down the win after beating Igor Figueiredo of Brazil 10-8 in an exciting final match this past Wednesday.Burden was the title favorite based on his ability and that he was in top form. However good he was, Burden was pushed to his limits by Igor as he tried his best to win the tournament as well. In the fourteenth frame Burden managed a break of 103 and Figueiredo had a high break of 98 earlier in the competition.
Burden gained a 3-0 lead but Igor would come back making it 3-3. From that point on the competition stayed close. When the first session ended Burden was up 5-4. During the second session Igor came out two frames ahead making the score 6-5. Burden would then go on a roll taking the match to 8-6 and then eventually earning the 10-8 win.
